Email interview
Posted at 02:17.52 and filed under MusingsMy 1st email interview, mabbe it would be the last. This came from an Informatics student doing a paper on mass communications. So yah, it wun be seeing the light of day except via here… Qns in bold. Happy editing hor student, i was lazy to type in proper english..heh..
1)Name: jkaiser 2)Blog address: http://jkaiser.blogsome.com 3)What is your current occupation? 3rd year physics undergraduate, NUS 4)How long have you been blogging?: almost 2.5 yrs 5)What made you set up a blog? (peers?, Curiosity? etc.): It was back in jul 2003 when online diaries became increasingly popular. Back then, on my friend’s recommendation i set up mine on Diaryland. It was a “screaming” thing, space to express myself, considering that i’ve just finished my NS and gone into NUS. Emotionally i was unstable then, dealing with matters of the heart.. haha! Shifted to blogger in oct 03…n finally blogsome in oct 05 6)What do you normally post about? (Specific events?, Memorable events, daily activities? etc.): I used to use my blog as an online diary, blogging about my daily life.. It got basically very boring. Slowly it evolved into more reflectory posts, on my life and daily happenings instead of purely regurgitating what happened today etc. It’s actually a hidden side of me, most ppl dun really know that i tend to think alot about current affairs, and hence some commentary posts (not as much as i would like though). 7)Do you share your intimate moments by writing about it in your blog?: It depends on what you mean by intimate. I’m fine with talking about my relationships with my close friends, and mostly they are ok with it. A word from them would suffice to make me remove the post or censor it if they are uncomfortable with it. Erm i do blog about crushes on some gals, and i dun put their names, haha! Of cos if you have started reading from my old blog, you would noe about “that gal in my blog”, remnants of a failed r/s. How detailed/brief the post would be would depend on the scenario. “that gal in my blog”, i could afford to be more explicit in talking about my feelings as most of my friends dun really noe her n she is more or less shielded. 7.1)If yes, do you write about it explicitly or jus a brief outline of it?: as above in Q7 8)What are your views about bloggers in Singapore? Blogging is still relatively new, in the sense that most ppl are having web diaries as opposed to a blog. I like to see mine as a combi of both, with the diary part playing a slightly smaller role. With regards to the recent sedition cases in court, and schools forcing students to tone down, we are moving into a new era where we realise that blogs are no longer personal and the blogger would have to acct for his/her words. I like the fact that many prominent bloggers are going into print media as well, like mr brown and mr miyagi. However the leap into print media would mean greater viewership, and hence greater responsibilities to their readers n society in general. The new semi-celeb status would mean that they inevitably become role models to the next generation, good or bad, that is wholly subjective
