Two wheels only. Nothing more

I just realised that i’ve been riding for 4 years.  Can still remember 13 apr 2003 when I went to my fren’s place in hougang to collect my bike from him on a saturday night.  You can imagine my excitement to be able to own my 1st bike.  So I wrote home at 11pm, and realised that i left my bag at his place when i was checking the bike.  So rode back to hougang and back home later, clocking more than 40km on the 1st nite alone.

A few weeks later, i had my 1st and only accident.  Failed to anticipate a car slowing down in front of me just before wheelock place and ended up skidding into the back of the benz.  Nothing serious, just 100 bucks damage to my bike, 30 bucks to see sinseh for my bruised shin, and 2.7k in insurance claim from him.

One year later, i switched to my 1st suzuki bandit, the All Blacks one.  That ride brought me alot of thrills, and spills.  Imagine day 2 of collecting the bike, i dropped it while trying to make a u-turn.  Had to pick up the bike in front of the crowded bus stop.  This bike taught me a lot of things, how to handle heavy bikes for example.  It was a bitch to push it up onto its mainstand, and it still is.  This was the bike that took me on my crazy trip to kuantan n back in 14 hrs on a sunday afternoon in 2005 before my exams.  Good things never lasted, the bike eventually died on me and with repairs estimated to be ard 4k, I decided to send it to its grave early by scrapping it.

The only bikeless period was for 2 mths in Dec 05 to Jan 06, pure torture I tell you.  It’s different when u rely on public transport daily.. a 15 min ride home became 45 mins, and i was very lucky that i never had morning exams that semester, if not dead meat.  Worked less @ kallang, more in town n sch, just to save on travelling time.

A friend sold me the 3rd bike I have, the current Bandit.  I never labelled it “red bandit”, it’s just “1285″.  By reputation, ppl know about this bike and how its ex-owner took it ard malaysia in 4 days, and made it a member of Club 200 by clocking 200km/h on it.  It was sold to a friend, and then to another fren b4 finally coming to me.  The 2nd owner passed away in a riding accident 1 yr ago, and now i’m damn reluctant to sell this bike simply because it not just serves as a memory of my friend, but I need to find a right owner for this bike.  No way am i gonna sell it to a shop or a stranger.  This bike deserves better.

What beckons for my riding, hopefully a bigger bike.  I’ve been putting on the class 2 upgrade for too long, and the bug is biting.  If a car comes my way however, the alternative is to trick up my current ride, basically rebuilding it.

4 years and hopefully more to come.
